Pre-WWII Devastator to be Raised off San Diego
A rare Douglas Devastator bomber (last piloted by LTJG Bill Howland '37, according to the accident report in this article) was discovered off the West Coast 15 years ago, but plans to raise the "holy grail" of naval aviation are still in the works. There are no flying or static examples of the Devastator anywhere in the world.
