Plebe Summer Videos
Feel like reliving the pain of Plebe Summer? Thornton Studios filmed Pep, endurance runs, damage control and more as the Class of 2015 sweats it out all over Annapolis during what may have been the hottest summer at the Academy (argue amongst yourselves on that point).

LT Minter Dial ’32, USN: a POW’s Ring Story
He was considered the ultimate All-American boy, the athletic and educated son of a senator. He went missing in 1942 while in the Pacific and became a POW at Cabanatuan Prison Camp in the Philippines. LT Dial never made it home, but his ring did. Read this extraordinary story here.

Battleship: the (Strange) Movie
We’re not sure if any of our alumni have encountered Transformer-like combatants on the high seas, but according to this movie, we should be training midshipmen to take down alien robots. Filmed during RIMPAC 2010, including active duty military as extras you may recognize, coming to a theater near you in 2012.

A Miniature Ring Becomes a Big Deal
CAPT Spencer Johnson IV ’63, USN (Ret.), thought he had the first donation to his class’s Bonds of Gold program—a miniature class ring found in Pensacola, FL. However, the ring had different plans. It wanted to go back to its owner. Spencer Johnson tells the tale.

Chadwick prepared to leave the hospital, hundreds of motorcycles and police cars escorted 2nd Lt. Wayland’s casket through his hometown of Midland, TX as thousands lined the streets.

Another successful Induction Day has come and gone, this year proudly boasting that every plebe-to-be arrived and checked in. We were there all day capturing the plebes, parents and alumni on camera.

Academies By the Numbers
The Princeton Review has come out again with its rankings of US colleges and universities just in time for the fall admissions road trips. No surprise that the service academies ranked high in categories like “Dorms Like Dungeons” and “School Runs Like Butter.” See how they compared to each other.

The Gift of Opportunity
LT Bernie Bennett ’43, USN (Ret.) graduated 70 years prior to when Midshipman Mckenzie Brannon ’13, USN, will. The distance has not kept them apart. LT Bennett is sponsoring MIDN Brannon through the scholarship he established for the International Programs Office. Thanks to his generosity, she spent part of her summer in Mexico.
