I-Day Class of 2015 Video
Another successful Induction Day has come and gone, this year proudly boasting that every plebe-to-be arrived and checked in. We were there all day capturing the plebes, parents and alumni on camera.

Ron Bancroft ’65: Strengthening the Link
Almost 50 years ago to the day, Ron Bancroft returned to the Academy for I-Day as a member of the Another Link in the Chain program in support of the new Class of 2015. He remembers the day 10 pm turned into 2200 for him and wanted to be there for ’15s first day too.

Our graduates have been very busy being promoted and collecting stars. The most recent changes in leadership are a collection from ’70s era classes and the positions of CNO and VCNO.

ADM “Snuffy” Smith ’62 in Proceedings
Admiral Leighton Smith, Jr. ’62, USN (Ret.), served as Commander-in-Chief U.S. Naval Forces Europe/Allied Forces Southern Europe, is a 2007 Distinguished Graduate Award recipient, served in Vietnam and Bosnia and has logged more than 4,200 hours in the air. However, it is his relationship with Jimmy Buffett that really impresses his kids.

British Ministry vs. Facebook and Foursquare
Loose lips can still sink ships. The British Ministry of Defense is currently concerned with how social media is transmitting too much information. Their YouTube videos are the modern version of propaganda posters.

Confederate Submarine Finally Flipped
The hand-cranked H.L. Hunley, sunk in 1864 and raised in 2000, is upright for the first time in 150 years. It took two long days to put her upright in the hope that clues about why she sank would be revealed on the hidden side.

The Greening of the Navy
Solar panels, LED lights and bio-fuels are replacing gas and batteries throughout the Navy to alleviate the military dependence on foreign oil and reduce the need for fuel convoys, easy targets for insurgents. Read more about the 2020 initiative.
