Brothers In Arms
1stLt Travis Manion '04, USMC, and LT Brendan Looney '04, USN, were classmates, company mates (18th) and roommates, becoming as close as brothers. One went to Iraq, the other to Afghanistan. Both were killed in action and have just been laid to rest side-by-side in Arlington National Cemetery. NBC and CBS both covered the story.

Coaches Get Schooled
Football players are presumed to enroll in classes named "Rocks for Jocks" and "Underwater Basket Weaving". Not so at the Naval Academy. To see what academic rigors his players endured off the field, Coach Ken sent his coaching staff out with his players to attend classes like thermodynamics and chemistry.

Mids are Kickin' It
Both the men's and women's soccer teams are going through transitions this year, losing some key players and building a youthful team into a Division I contender. Some coaches are new, some are seasoned Navy sports vets, but everyone is raring for successful seasons.

The Navy Turns 235
On 10 October, the Navy celebrated a big birthday. Back in 1775 it all began with two ships, 10 guns and 80 sailors. Things have changed quite a bit since. ADM Mike Mullen '68, USN, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, wrote birthday wishes to Navy Sailors, vets and civilians.

Spirit Spots: Air Force Game
If you missed them on our Facebook page, you can still enjoy two very creative spirit spots made by mids in honor of the recent Air Force football match up. They may not have won the game, but it was not for lack of spirit.

Run to Honor
The Run to Honor organization will host their annual dinner event in Annapolis on 29 October in honor of fallen Naval Academy alumni at the Loews Hotel. This effort is headed up by Jeff Webb '95 and Giovanna Kostrubala '95. The running events are on Sunday, 31 October, in DC.
