Leveque ’10 Earns Dolphins
LTJG Marquette Ried Leveque ’10, USN, has just made history as one of the first three women unrestricted line officers to qualify in submarines. She is assigned to the Gold crew of the ballistic missile submarine WYOMING at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay where the ceremony took place. Her husband, LTJG Luke Leveque ’10, USN, did the pinning.

Service Academy Career Conference
If you are thinking about transitioning from the military or your civilian job, SACC is a great forum for meeting with a wide range of industries. If you are hiring, bring your company to SACC and meet with outstanding candidates. We had 62 companies and nine graduate schools attend the San Antonio SACC. The next conference will be in Savannah, GA, from 28 February to 1 March. See you there!

Dyer ’00 Dips Toes into “Shark Tank”
Maj. Rob Dyer, USMC, did not like his options when he was deployed in Afghanistan when it came to staying awake and alert, so he made his own caffeine-free concoction to help troops “shoot, move and communicate faster than the enemy.” The economics professor at the Academy was recently on ABC’s “Shark Tank” hoping to find backing for this battle-tested business. See if the Sharks took his bait (his segment begins at the 31:00 min. mark) and read about his experience.

ENTERPRISE Retires
On 1 December in Norfolk, the world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier retired after an incredible 51-year career. Once the largest ship in the world, the “Big E” soon set speed records as well and went on to serve in every major conflict since the Cuban Missile Crisis. Many also unfortunately remember the “Vortex of Hell” in 1969 that took the lives of 28 crewmen on board.

Sports writer Gary Lambrecht had the opportunity to interview him before the Army-Navy Game to get his reaction to his amazing football season.
